Walk in Someone Else’s Shoes

Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch personified dignity, kindness, courage, and integrity. I had none of those qualities as a teenager, but To Kill a Mockingbird inspired me to care about social justice and equality. I have spent my adult years striving to be more selfless, more willing to stand up for others. The book and film were centerpieces in my classroom for thirty years of teaching; I know that many of my students found the same inspiration I did.
