I fell in love with Mr. Peck when I was about 12 and saw To Kill A Mockingbird. I had no idea then that many years later I would move to Los Angeles and have several opportunities to talk with him. We also exchanged some correspondence. I attended his funeral at the Cathedral downtown, and later, Mrs. Peck graciously invited me to the unveiling of the commemorative stamp in his honor. At his funeral, I loved learning that many people, including Harper Lee, said that he WAS Atticus — just that kind and fair-minded. Our world is dimmer without him.
