Rome, by all means, Rome

by Heather Johnson

I was awestruck by Gregory Peck in high school… even though he was in his 80’s by then.  Roman Holiday, Horatio Hornblower and The World in His Arms were some of the most romantic movies I had ever seen. When Mr. Peck came to Indianapolis in the early 1990s, I immediately bought a ticket. Hearing those stories, spoken by Mr. Peck himself, in person – especially those while filming Roman Holiday – entranced me. So much so, that I went to Rome and visited all of the same sites as they did in the film. I had my own Roman Holiday (unfortunately, I didn’t find my own “Joe Bradley,” though! 😉).

Gregory Peck is an American icon. May he always be remember and beloved not only for his acting, but his commitment toward humanity.
