The world is an emptier place without him. Always came across as a thoroughly decent and nice man. Loved seeing him interviewed by Michael Parkinson on British TV. Can watch his movies again and again, but especially “Mockingbird” and “Twelve O’Clock High” where he plays a USAAF officer on the ground on an airfield in England while his crews are over enemy territory in their B17s. I remember also many years ago a newspaper (British) photograph of him, Jimmy Stewart and Henry Fonda dressed in pin striped suits sitting on a London park bench. Iconic.
