I saw To Kill a Mockingbird when I was 7 and fell so in love with, not just the story, but this amazing actor who embodied the role. I could never watch Mr. Peck in any other movie after that, for fear that it would dim my belief that he was not an actor, he was Atticus Finch, my hero. It’s been 35 years since I first saw him play that part, and I still remember like it was yesterday. Seeing this man so full of life, of integrity, of love. Mr. Peck touched my heart in a way no other actor ever could. I remember watching a documentary that showed Mr. Peck speaking to different groups and I realized that he didn’t just embody the character traits of Atticus, Atticus took some from Mr. Peck. He has always been and shall always be my inspiration, my hero, my Atticus.
