Being from the Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia area I’ve always been proud of the Barter Theater, the state theater of Virginia in Abingdon. But even more proud that Gregory Peck was an alumnus of the Barter. There is a cafe across from the theater that, when they take your order they ask what actor or actress you wanted to be. And when your order is up they called out your chosen thespian. I went there with my boyfriend (now husband) and when they asked what actress I wanted, I replied “I don’t care as long as he (my boyfriend) is Gregory Peck!”
