A Gorgeous Man on the Outside, A Hero on the Inside

TKAM is my favorite movie of all time. Atticus Finch was the essence of a southern gentleman: strong, protective, kind, professionally competent, genteel and a good shot to boot. But few men had the character  of Atticus: his insight, his fairness, his courage to do the right thing, popular or not. “Stand up Scout, your father’s passing.” I paraphrase that line spoken from the balcony in the courtroom, you know the one. Atticus set a standard of behavior few people lived up to in that time. How wonderful that Gregory Peck was beautiful to look at then, and in all his roles, and lived his own life in a similar manner. Who else could have played Atticus as he did? I just loved him.
